Donor advised giving
Stay involved in your gift
Donor advised giving is a convenient, flexible way for individuals, families, businesses or groups to become personally involved in a shared giving experience. If you have a range of community interests, you may find that it’s an ideal vehicle for fulfilling your charitable wishes. Donor advised giving is typically less costly and easier to administer than other forms of philanthropic giving (such as private foundations).
Your gift can be combined with others to increase its impact, and you can add to it at any time, receiving tax benefits with each new gift. You can establish a fund or foundation today and make grant recommendations now or in the future. At Napa Valley Community Foundation, you have two choices for donor advised giving:
Donor advised funds
You make a non-permanent gift to the Community Foundation and remain actively involved in suggesting uses for it. The principal is spent through grantmaking, but you may choose to maintain it with additional gifts. Initial gift required: $25,000.
Donor advised foundations
You make a permanently endowed gift to the Community Foundation and remain actively involved in suggesting uses for it. Half of your gift is available for immediate grantmaking and half creates an endowment for future grants. Donor advised foundations are a great way for individuals, businesses, groups and multiple generations of a family to share a giving experience over time. Initial gift required: $100,000.
